Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 26, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Futaribun (the “App”) handles user information.

1. Information handled by the App

The App handles expense names, amounts, payers, categories, dates, each partner's share, rent subsidy settings, settlement status, app settings, Plus purchase status, and text recognized from receipts.

2. Purpose

The information is used to calculate each person's share, show unsettled balances, display expense history and monthly summaries, retain settings, and confirm purchase entitlement.

3. Storage and partner sharing

Expense data is stored on the device. After partner sharing begins, the same data is also stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) and synchronized between the two participating devices. Firebase Authentication processes an anonymous identifier, and access rules restrict shared data to household members. Firebase authentication, messaging, and synchronization features may process anonymous diagnostic information and device or installation identifiers to provide and maintain those features. This information is not used for advertising tracking.

4. Purchase information

Apple App Store handles Plus purchases and restoration. The product identifier and App Store verification data are sent to a verification server to confirm entitlement and prevent misuse. The developer does not obtain card details. Apple's handling of information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

5. Receipt scanning and AI category suggestions

Receipt images are recognized on-device with Apple Vision and are neither uploaded nor stored by the App. With first-use consent, Plus may send only recognized merchant and item text through Firebase Functions to Google Gemini API for a category suggestion. It does not send the receipt image, payer, or split information, and the App's server does not persistently store the submitted text. Google's handling of information is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

6. Deleting data

Uninstalling the App deletes data on that device. When sharing is active, Settings > Partner sharing > Delete sharing account removes the sharing account and server-side shared data. This does not cancel an Apple subscription.

7. Security

Local data is stored in the App's on-device area. Shared data is protected by authentication and access controls. The App does not use advertising or behavioral analytics SDKs.

8. Children's privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13.

9. Policy changes

This policy may be updated when features or data handling change. Important changes will be announced in the App or on this page.
