This Privacy Policy explains how MILEARC (the “App”) handles user information.
1. Information We Handle
Location Information
With your permission, the App uses your device’s latitude, longitude, location accuracy, and acquisition time. Location information is used to create loop routes that start at your current location, display maps, provide route guidance, and check your distance from a route.
Course and Settings Data
The App stores on your device the names and route coordinates of saved courses, distances, elevations, evaluation results such as intersections, selected course conditions, display theme, location-permission state, free course-creation count, free-tier setting, and ratings entered after completing a course. Plus status is checked using App Store purchase information.
The App does not obtain your name, address, email address, contacts, photos, or advertising identifier. It currently does not use a proprietary user account, advertising, behavioral tracking, or analytics.
2. Purpose of Use
Information is used only for the following purposes:
- Creating loop routes based on your current location
- Displaying maps and providing course guidance
- Evaluating distance, elevation change, intersections, road attributes, and nearby parks and waterfront areas
- Restoring saved courses and App settings
- Recording post-course ratings on your device
3. Transmission to External Services
When creating a course, the App sends location or route information to the following external services only as necessary. The developer does not use this information for advertising, marketing, or tracking.
Apple Maps / MapKit (Apple Inc.)
Your current location and information about candidate waypoints and routes are used for map display and walking-route calculation. The App does not use this information for advertising or tracking.
Apple App Store / StoreKit (Apple Inc.)
This service is used for MILEARC Plus product information, purchases, and entitlement checks. The App obtains product and entitlement information from the App Store but does not obtain or store your Apple Account, payment method, or card information.
OpenStreetMap / Overpass API
The bounding coordinates around candidate courses are sent to obtain map attributes such as roads, intersections, traffic signals, stairs, paving, parks, waterfront areas, and place names. The Overpass API operator may process technical information such as your IP address.
Geospatial Information Authority of Japan Elevation Tiles
In Japan, the App obtains elevation tiles corresponding to sampled course coordinates and converts them to elevation values on the device. The GSI server may process technical information such as your IP address and requested tiles.
Geoapify Elevation API (Geoapify GmbH)
Where GSI elevation data is unavailable, sampled course coordinates are sent, when the service is available, to Geoapify through the developer’s relay service. The API key is not stored in the App, and the relay does not store locations or routes. Geoapify and the relay provider may process communication information for technical maintenance and abuse prevention.
App Configuration Delivery (Gnosflare / Vercel, Inc.)
The App retrieves public settings such as the number of courses that can be created for free. This request does not send location information, saved courses, an advertising identifier, or a user-specific ID. The server operator may process technical information such as IP address and access time for delivery and abuse prevention.
The App does not transmit information beyond what is necessary to provide the service and does not use obtained information for advertising or tracking.
4. Data Storage
Saved courses, settings, and post-course ratings are stored on your device. Ratings are not transmitted externally. The App does not store a history of locations obtained during guidance, and the developer’s server does not store location history or a complete travel trace.
5. Changing Permissions and Deleting Data
Location permission can be changed at any time in iPhone Settings. If permission is disabled, course creation and guidance that require your current location cannot be used.
Saved courses can be deleted individually in the App. Deleting the App removes saved courses, settings, and post-course ratings stored on the device. The App cannot directly delete communication logs retained by external services.
6. Security
The App stores on-device data in an OS-protected area. Enable a device passcode or biometric authentication and protect the device appropriately.
7. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13.
8. Changes to This Policy
This Policy will be updated when App features or information handling changes. Material changes will be announced in the App.
